Biographical summary:
Grethel Morell Otero. Historian of Cuban Photography/curator/art critic.
Jose Ney Mila Espinosa, of Cuban nationality, was born in Havana the 4 of March of 1959.
He is a self-taught photographer, recognized within documentary photography and author photography since the middle of the 1980’s. Formed initially as a cartoonist, artisan/artist and working on civil projects, finally he abandoned his career as anarchitect to pursue photography.
He received various awards in his country in drawing, painting, applied arts and photography, but his biggest achievements came starting the 90’s, in international lounges of photography, earning along his career numerous prizes and distinctions.

Among those that stand out most until current time, should be mentioned those granted for his auto edition of documentary photo libraries as “Notes for the end of a century…” in 2020 Bronze Winner, Tokyo International Photo Awards, Japan, and AWARD
SHORTLIST, London International Creative Competition, England (United Kingdom), among other Honorary Mentions, in international lounges such as PX3, 2020, Paris. In 2019, IPA in United States, and MIFA from Moscow.
Just like, “The Bull, the last gladiator”, in 2020, JURY TOP 5 SELECTION and Bronze Winner, Tokyo International Photo Awards. Japan; Silver Winner in the Editorial category of International Photo Awards in Moscow, Russia, among other Honorary Mentions, in international lounges like BIFA of Hungary; IPA from United States and MIFA of Moscow.
His most recent title “Earth, Earth, Earth”. 2021, Silver Winner, Tokyo International Photo Awards. Japan; Bronze Winner in different contests like Le Prix de la Photography de Paris (PX3), France; in Moscow International Photo Awards, Russia
and Budapest International Photo Awards, Hungary 2020, among other Honorary Mentions in different categories at IPA, USA. and BIFA, Hungary.
